Technology & R&D

Research partnerships with academician-led institutes, three core proprietary technologies, and a 51-patent portfolio behind every product we sell.

Rayhope is not a company that buys graphene and resells it. We prepare our own material from our own graphite, develop the application technology in our own research institute, and validate it alongside some of China's most respected carbon-materials scientists. This page sets out how that work is structured and who we do it with.

Rayhope research and development

Three Core Strengths

Rayhope's capabilities extend across the value chain — from graphite resources and graphene preparation to proven applications.

01 Resource

Large-Flake Crystalline Graphite
Our graphite resource contains a high proportion of large-flake crystalline graphite — close to 50% — providing a strong raw-material base for graphene preparation and downstream development.

02 Material

Graphene Preparation
Rayhope develops graphene materials from selected natural graphite, with preparation and processing capabilities that support consistent quality and application-specific development.

03 Application

Formaldehyde Decomposition
Rayhope applies graphene-based catalytic technology to decompose formaldehyde rather than simply adsorb it, supporting functional coatings and healthier indoor environments.

Research Partners

Rayhope collaborates in depth with four leading academician teams and research institutes in China and internationally. These are working relationships around specific technical problems, not honorary affiliations.

Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems

Chinese Academy of Sciences

A new-model research institute jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Municipal Government. The institute maintains a high-level research team of more than 100 people, including two academicians.

It is the origin of two original scientific disciplines — piezotronics and piezo-phototronics — and of core technologies including nanogenerators, self-powered sensing systems, ocean blue energy, and new high-voltage power sources. The institute is the international leader in its field; related research is currently pursued by over 5,000 researchers across more than 430 institutions in over 40 countries and regions.

Zhongguancun Graphene Industry Alliance

Z-park Graphene Industry Alliance — Rayhope is a Vice-Chairman Unit

A national professional industry organisation guided by the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and approved by the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. It is the core vehicle for Beijing's "one body, two wings" graphene industry development plan, jointly initiated by Zhongguancun Development Group, Peking University, and other institutions.

The alliance exists to build the industry ecosystem and to bring industry, academia, research, and capital into close alignment — specifically to close the gap between technical R&D and market application, and to bridge the "last mile" of commercialising scientific results.

Drawing on full-chain resource integration, it connects high-quality upstream and downstream graphene participants, builds collaborative platforms, and accelerates the transfer of frontier university and institute technologies into industry.

Zhengzhou Institute of Multipurpose Utilization of Mineral Resources

Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences

A scientific innovation and technical support institute under the China Geological Survey. Its work covers the evaluation and comprehensive utilization of mineral resources, geological investigation, ecological restoration, and the transfer and application of research outcomes.

The institute has undertaken more than 100 national mineral-resource utilization projects and received 71 scientific and technological awards, including three National Science and Technology Progress Awards. Its research and technical services support resource conservation and more efficient mineral utilization.

Suzhou Sinoma Design and Research Institute of Non-Metallic Minerals Industry Co., Ltd.

China National Building Material Group

A leading Chinese research and engineering institute specializing in the deep processing of non-metallic minerals. Its capabilities include experimental research, engineering design, EPC delivery, equipment development and integration, and high-performance mineral material processing.

The institute operates several national research and public-service platforms, including the National Engineering Research Center for Deep Processing of Non-Metallic Minerals. It supports the development and industrial application of advanced mineral materials through research, engineering and technical services.

Scientific Expertise & Guidance

Professor Shen Wanci — Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University. A distinguished carbon materials specialist and Chairman of the Expert Committee of the China Non-metallic Mining Industry Graphite Association, with a long career in the teaching and research of carbon and graphite materials.

Professor Tang Rongyang — Professor-level Senior Engineer and Chief Geological Expert of the Henan Bureau of Non-ferrous Metals Geology and Mineral Resources. Recipient of the State Council Special Government Allowance since 1993.

International Academic Exchange

Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov — Nobel laureate in Physics, co-discoverer of graphene, Fellow of the Royal Society and Professor at the University of Manchester — visited the Rayhope Group, touring both our science museum and our intelligent factory and exchanging views with our research team.

The Rayhope Research Institute

Our applied technology research institute is organised on a "1 + N + 3" model designed to let science drive industry rather than sit beside it:

  • 1 — a single shared public service platform
  • N — numerous participating enterprises and research institutes
  • 3 — an international community, an international school, and international research institutes

The institute houses nine functional centres: product exhibition, trading, testing, design, data, shared equipment, academic research, human resources, and business services. Its graphene new-materials research programme is developed in tandem with the surrounding new-energy battery industry cluster.

From Laboratory to Deployment

Research only matters if it reaches the field. Rayhope technologies are running in live installations including:

  • Graphene photovoltaic self-cleaning system — pilot trial with China Three Gorges Corporation
  • Qinghai photovoltaic + Rayhope graphene heating — combined renewable generation and heating deployment
  • Coal-to-electricity conversion projects — graphene heaters replacing coal-fired heating
  • Graphene wall covering — installed in schools, government buildings and residential developments, including the Zhengzhou Municipal Government building, Luoyang Peking University Academy, and the Changzhou Shimao Champagne Lake villas
  • Healthcare facilities — Boao Super Hospital and the Yiling Life Care Center
  • Specialist vehicles — heating systems for police and law-enforcement vehicles, fire and emergency response vehicles, and medical/disease-control vehicles, in partnership with Senyuan Hongma
